Introduction
Merdeka Square is the place where Malaysia declared independence in 1957. The Independence Day parade takes place here. There are a lot of attractions around Merdeka Square. The popular Sultan Abdul Samad Building is at Merdeka Square. Many tourists visit this place every year.
Merdeka 118 is a skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur with 118-storeys. This is the second largest building in the world with a height of 678.9 m (2227 ft). It means independence. It has retail outlets, office spaces and hotels. There are observation decks.

Take LRT Kelana Jaya line from KL Sentral to Masjid Jamek. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to Merdeka Square.

The building built in 1897 has Moorish style architecture. Originally built for British colonial offices, it was later used as Selangor Government office till 1974. Then it was used for Court System. From 2000 it is being used by the Ministry of Communications.

Masjid Jamek
This is one of the popular mosques in Kuala Lumpur. It is open from 8.30 AM to 4.30 PM. There is an LRT station with the same name. Opened in 1909, this reflects the Moghul architecture. There is a light show near Klang and Gombak rivers. The show is at intervals of 15 minutes between 9.15 PM and 11 PM. Men should cover till below the knees. Women should cover legs and wear a scarf. Scarfs are available at the counter.
